Hello,
My O/S/R door has been getting stiffer and stiffer recently. The check-strap and hinges have always been kept very well greased.I can't see anything wrong and the door fits nicely but is stiff when opened more than half way. Do I need to take the door off to investigate? Looks difficult to do without damaging something.
Thanks

I am on my 2nd 406 and the back doors are generally a pain when it comes to ease of opening. They don't get used much in my possession, so it goes all "stiff". No idea how to fix it though - the metal check-strap thing is rusted though.

Give the metal a good sanding to get rid of rust and then grease it up good!!! Most 406 doors suffer from premature stiffness

Thanks

It's not just my car then!

I'll try cleaning off all the grease, sanding the check-straps smooth and then re-greasing. My rear doors do get a lot of use. It was actually one of my kids who complained it was too hard to pull it shut from the inside.
