Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

will peugeot 307 challenger 17" alloy wheel fit my 406 v6 d9 ?? it says on the wheels ch31 - is that the offset?

offset of my v6 is between 15-25 , so not sure about the challenger wheels, also - are they likely to fit ove rthe brake calipers?

cheers, James

Yes they will. You may need spacers though. Take some pics if you get them. i'd say they look unreal on a 406

Yep - I'll take some pics - will look a damn site better than the crappy orginal wheels that peugeot chose to put on from the factory, why-oh-why do they put such shite looking wheel on an otherwise good looking motor?

the d9 alloys are a nice style - and as you say they should have been 16 or 17" as standard, they made the standard alloys way too small - and I think this dates the car somewhat (I suppose the basic design of the 406 is well over 12 years old, and has changed very little since then) but overall a good design dated by the 'little rollerskate wheels peugeot stick on em.

Anyone else tried some original 307 or 308 wheels on their 406 successfully? - and any pics before I go bidding on ebay.

Make me an offer as I'm moving soon and it's just something else to shift really. That said, if I end up keeping them, I always play around with the cars and chopping and changing wheels is any easy way to change the overall look and style.

hi mate - can you post a pic or two of how they look on the car as a whole - really want to see how these suit the 406 - I think they'll be perfect, so please please forward another picture.

Also when you say they fit under the arch as opposed to level with it do you mean the gap above (between) the tyre and the arch line is too wide? so it may look like the cars on stilts? lastly did you need spacers and what size?

They look amazing - these would look superb on the 406 - but with bigger walled tyres (55 or 60) These are the challenger or the 180 gti wheels - will the offset be the same I think they will need spacers.

They are the 180 GTi wheels, which didnt need spacers on my 306, so not 100% sure they wil fit the 406 with or without the spacers.

Easiest way to tell challengers (307 wheels) from Vortex (206 GTi 180) wheels is that the Challengers have removable centre caps whereas the Vortex have solid centres. The Challengers are also a different offset (ET18 IIRC) and will bolt directly on, whereas the Vortex are ET28 IIRC and will ideally require 10mm spacers to get the correct offset. By the way, the actually tyre size you ideally want to run on 17's on a 406 is 225/45/17. That's the closest rolling radius to stock and offers good grip too. I can vouch for this! :supafrisk:

Seen them on a 406 on ebay a few months back and looked well, so i saved the pics to the computer lol :)
Theres a white one over here that had them on it and was lowered 40mm. dont have any pics of it, but I think it just sets them off nicely.
