respraying bumper

Hi guys my used replacement bumper has arrived :cheesy: I want to spray it china blue it is actually diablo red can I just rough up the surface and respray thanks in advance ........Rob

Get it done properly old son - small jobs with cans are one thing, but a whole bumper will be a pain unless you're really good.

It'll cost c.£80 or so, but if you prep the surface and remove any imperfections beforehand, you may save a bit on that. worth every penny though.

Thanks Turbolag my mate has a compressor and Im going to buy a spray gun .I have done some spraying in my old job but have only sprayed metal shop fittings ,just was wondering how much to sand the plastic :?

Til it's smooth! Finish with 12-1400 grit chum, then degrease, then a wipe with a tack rag.

Where can you get a bumper painted for £80? And 1200 is too smooth for paint to adhere to correctly, 800 (wet and dry) is ideal for most colours, silvers may need to go to 1000. Most bodyshops use dry sanding and P500 is a typical final sanding stage before paint.
