Rear Light Cluster

Had my (very rare) D9 2,2 petrol saloon for a couple of weeks now and noticed the reversing lights are complete rubbish is it possible to use a cluster with anything other than a red finish to enhance the output of light emmited.I seem to remember one of my old 406 saloons having red and a smoked finish but not sure anything elese will fit?
