Re: The Car
Sorry to hear about that, at least we were not disturbed in the whole thing, an armed robbery must have been awful.

Re: The Car
The switch for the bonnet leds came, drilled a hole in the fuse box, threaded the wires (i didnt take pictures because who wants to see wires) and popped the switch into place:

all closed up and now all that can be seen is the switch:

and the bit everyone wants to see, the red button lit up:

this is the LEDs up the bulkhead:

the white cable ties were sh*t in 2 ways they were physically unable to hold things together, and looked crap so they have been replaced with black ones which hide better
heres them all working:

it let me see where the windscreen wash went:

but also lights up a good area round the car:

and if left turned on when the bonnet closes it leaves an outline of the engine bay on the ground:

Re: The Car
Ive got an issue with my home made veroboard circuit. When its connected to 12v it just turns on the relay no matter whats going on with the LDR, and im completley confused whats wrong, heres the circuit diagram i worked on (a hand drawn sketch):

the front and back of the circuit:

Any ideas what ive done wrong, and should i just take the lazy option and buy this:

Re: The Car
Ive given up completley with the veroboard, but that first circuit isnt necessary, theres a simpler kit available.

I dont think the assembly is the problem, its the design of the circuit that i think i got wrong. Eventually a proper solution to adding footwell lights will be found by someone.
And after thats sorted out, one of these is getting added onto the headlights:

Remote controled lights.

Re: The Car
I'm next to useless with circuits like this
I like the under-bonnet lights and must say there's never enough light under there when you'd need it most.

Re: The Car
I still think i could do with another atop the radiator but then i think it would be possible to do anything in pitch darknessWelly wrote: I like the under-bonnet lights and must say there's never enough light under there when you'd need it most.

2000th Post
Id to take the cover out thats where i broke the clips, the bonnet liners actually quite a dirty olde thing made my hands quite mucky. but only issue is running it down the side of the bonnet into the scuttle theres a bit of exposed wire, it seems like an easy solution will be to cut a bit of seal off another 406 the length of the exposed wire, drill a few wee holes use the excess sill trim clips, bop the cut bit of seal over it and it will look like normal either that or drill a channel for it, not a hugely pressing issue but the better hid instalations are the tidier the car looks.
and had to put this somewhere the record for what ive ever seen:

try jumping into a car with cream leather seats (with no heat) in a shirt and trousers at this temperature, you dont need a bath full of ice at all.

Re: The Car
-18 on my 406 when I started it this morning.
I saw -18 last Friday morning too.
I wish it would get above freezing long enough for my screen wash to thaw so I can get some more concenrate in it to stop it freezing again. Been waiting almost 2 weeks now.

Re: The Car
Everyone makes a fuss about how cold leather seats are in winter. I've had no issues with that in mine. Yes, there are seat heaters, but the drivers' side one doesn't seem to work (the passenger one is apparently good enough to make yer bum nice and toasty, but I've never sat in that seat yet).
