Some you win, some you dont.

I guess its luck of the draw I guess.

For a free car though, its not THAT bad.

I paid about £1350 for my D9 HDi90 with 128k on it. So that way, You still have £350 to spend :P  :cheesy:

So, you going back to a 300-series ? :supafrisk:

never trust the word of an 'it needs for nothing and will see you out' spouting father.
Lesson learned.

possibly. They're basic, but inherantly reliable. Never had a pick of bother from any of mine. Apart from my own idiocy.

I don't think I can afford anything modern AND reliable/good condition. I'll see what the trader/poobay/gumtree/attacks throw up.
Need ANYTHING at the minute.

Beggers cannot do choosing.

if 406 ownership has taught me anything, it's that I MUST own a 406 coupe one day.
I love them.
But can't get anywhere near one at the minute.
But one day........... One day.

Ick. Ruined by the drifter brigade.
My 360 gle was mint. And I sold it. To insure the 406. I don't think I'd find better, or similar, so am reluctant to look. :?

Think it's gonna have to be something cheap and local for now.

Ouch. Sorry to hear the car has given you so much sh1t, has it lost compression or something gone bang?
Best of luck anyhow, no need to be a stranger; we've got plenty of ex 406 owners here :)

No bang,
deff still running on all cylinders,
Not overheating,
Not the HG,
Plenty of oil in.

Was just pottering along, up into third, tried to accelerate and wouldnt rev past 4.
odd.
power continued to ebb away on the way home.
Limped in at about 30 mph.

Checked everything Im capaple of checking and ive come up blank.

Im sure its something fixable, but its the last straw. Theres too much to do, and things added to the list every time I get in it.
My mojo has bean beaten to death. :(

I feel gutted for you seeing as you've poured so much dosh into it :(
I wonder whether the fuel filter is clogged up or there's a kink in the fuel line somewhere?

Fuel filter was changed last service, so possible, but doubtfull.
Kink, plausible.

After being reasured it didnt need a VOSA check after front shunt and repair, it appears that it now does.
Just want it gone now.

Cheersfor the help Dude. I'll be back with a Coupe one day.
But i'll take my time choosing one, and have a good look round the underside this time!

Well, the head gasket blew as I was trying to limp it home.
Oil and water all over the road and towed back by a friends 8valve skoda estelle.

A fitting epitaph.
It's dead and leaking all over my street, but at least its dead.

Small consolation
