ive got stacks of these at work, they're all ex-fleet vehicles, and i hate them, those stupid credit card keys give no end of trouble, if your lucky to get it to start, then try and stop it, without stalling it, then you've got things like "check injection" and so forth, and then you've got the randomn underbonnet fires, caused by alternators, seen plenty of those

Nope. Did you look at this first? Then, this is all worst case scenario, if I'd have had a chance to read the 406 review before I bought my D8 I'd have run away screaming They can't all go wrong, just like there's 406 owners who've never been here because they've never had any problems, maybe you'll be ok. Not many horror stories here.

Personally, it's hidious, and it's black like my D9

Every car has its problems, its a game of luck. Your car could be a monday morning car or a 5 o clock friday car, you just never know Im sure in time a few problems will appear but i will worry about that when that day arrives.

Just done a bit of research on this. If mine (or any diesel Megane) has "check injection" come up on the display its a faulty heater plug

Not low mileage examples, driven by little old ladies? Nope, abused by monkeys who're too busy worrying about their bonuses and fiddling their expense accounts to worry about their repmobile's next owner. My dad once bought a Solara that had been truly abused by a rep who hated it, it even had burns all over the dashboard where he'd been "branding" it with the cigarette lighter. What killed it was the oil filter mysteriously came loose and he'd carried on thrashing it with no oil in until it self-destructed. When we dropped the sump a pile of swarf fell out, including the camshaft which was individual lobes. One piston was about 10mm tall where the conrod had hammered it to oblivion. Said conrod was also missing.

James mate, give the guy a break! How often do people bring you cars with nothing wrong with them? (yeah, ok, people probably do )

Incidently, we put a new lump in the Solara and my cousin had it but it was flattened by a tree in the great storm of 1987. I blame Michael Fish.

We were all awoken by a huge crash, the top two feet of chimney stack blew down!
We spent the morning after clearing rubble and helping a neighbour chop up a tree which had fallen across the lane

In the early hours I was watching the huge ash tree at the side of our garden thrashing about, I was amazed at the amount of punishment it was taking, then suddenly it wasn't. It took two more trees out and showered the house with debris, breaking windows and sending me running for cover. We used to live at the end of a lane that ran through a forest and it took me and my dad all morning to chainsaw our way out.

My god, I was 22 then, was I really still living at home?
