Difficult to tell from that, but if it's any help, before it went on my Xantia I used to hear a little metallic rattle now & again. Hard to describe, but the only way I can think of to explain is that it is quite a pronounced sound which is obviously not normal engine noise.

Although my honest opinion now, having experienced one go, is that it is a safer bet to just change it with the cambelt. Was quite scary having the power steering go heavy & the heating throwing a wobbly all at the same time when driving the boy to school.

I didn't mean the mechanical rattle. When the pulley is going it's a very high pitched metallic rattle which is the sound of the rolled up strip of metal (which is what was in the Xantia's original pulley) shaking about. It is a distinctive sound which doesn't sound like a normal diesel engine rattle. Almost like somebody lightly tapping a symbal in the background.

The new rubber mats arrived today:
Image
Image
they are of such high quality you have to do some cutting:
Image
so here was the shitty old instore ones and i literally mean shitty as there was some mixture of manure and silage on the drivers one:
Image
Image
Image
the back one in place:
Image
didnt really fit perfect so more cutting:
Image
plonked it in:

ive also ordered a new set of the fabric mats because mine are a bit past it, on top they look allright but underneath them is falling apart:
Image
and the drivers side never even had one so it looks like this:

the carpets will need a good clean.

You win the "Longest key-ring chain" award, 2011

It's not a good thing actually as it wears the ignition barrel :|

The mats are a good solution btw.

new clutch on, just have to put on the adapter plate, and put the engine and gearbox together, and wait for some new delay to occur.

some useful bit of information:

Image

Programming the remote control
☞ Switch off the ignition.
☞ Switch the ignition on again.
☞ Immediately press button A.
☞ Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the ignition lock. The remote control is now working again.

there is plenty of stuff for him to chase, as a pup he chased birds in the sky but wised up and realised he cant fly, still chases after rabbits and catches them. But its more a dogs loyalty that keeps him standing close when im working on the zuki not the nuts and bolts. The engines in by the way, finally got the engine mounts sorted, and a bolt in place which took ages to put in. Have reconnected the clutch cable, the throttle cable, and the brake servo. Then i took the sump out (easy bar the last bolt was easy, because the 1.6 sump was too big, the axle would smash it into shite, and i need to modify ie cut the 1.3 sump so the pickup tube will sit there.
Image
also the exhaust manifold, wires, radiator, and petrol pipes need sorted out before it runs, and ill be installing a push button start:
Image
Image
and the gear leaver will need put back on again:
Image
the last bolt that was a bitch to get out the sump:

the excitment is building. But im in the trap all proper 4x4 drivers enter, i have read the magazines and i see what can be done to these suzukis, and i want to get the bigger carb, the lift kit, the 16v head, the winch. It becomes a costly addiction and i just have to remind myself that even standard the suzuki was the best off roader ive ever used and to date ive only ever had road tyres on it, with chunkies it would go even further. so more power and some chunky tyres should be all it needs.
