so the jeep had to be moved out of the shed, along with all the tools so it could be cleared out for the apple boxes, while the jeep was out i blew up the tyres, and took off the doors, roof support bars, and windscreen, driving these jeeps without such unnecessary extras really is the way to go:

fuel lines now connected, starter connected, negative terminal all ready, just the altenator and push button switch and the coil to sort out, the sump, and the gearbox mount, and whatever else i havent said.
Image
its not too bad looking, nice simple little engine bay.
improved driving experience:

the problem, which was declared as not a problem with the crack where the sump goes:

and the plastidip arrived:

finally got a chrome exhaust tip that fits, ebay £5 and then £3 postage, slid right over my exhaust, and clamped on with the clamp in it, i was prepared to do some sawing at the exhaust but it wasnt necessary, anyhow here it is and it looks quite good, i think subtle, as i was trying to avoid a chavish look as so many aftermarket exhaust things do:
Image
and after a good diesel blow out, i got only this much black soot on its tip:

onto the plastidip issue, its a waste of time, it doesnt come out as a nice fine spray as you tube suggests, perhaps because in ad land everything works perfectly, no but mine came out all lumpy from the can even when new despite shaking like mad. So ive asked the seller about this and await a reply because look at the state it left my grab handle in:

looks quite poo.

on a brighter note, i finally got a ldr activate circuit that appears to be functioning correctly:
Image
it sends the multimeter buzzing like mad in the light and shuts it up in the dark so that is working well, and its not from ebay its from some other company who isnt ebay but conveniently accept paypal, ill not give a link unless it works when i install it in my car, or someone asks.

following the sucess of this circuit ive bought another, but i think its the start of an addiction to build it yourself circuit boards. This is what i plan to put in the battery box:

the bsi can play havoc, if you directly wire the footwell lights to the overhead courtesy light, or doorcard lights it fecks up the bsi and everything will go mad. So what my circuit is to do is effectivley take a safe power supply from the battery which i brought into the car, there is an ldr mounted over beside the courtesy light, and the circuit should turn on and off the relay which disconnects and reconnects the power supply to the footwell lights. Thats the plan anyhow, all the previous 2 attempts were let down by the circuits being the wrong type so this one should hopefully work when wired in. As for lights in the door handles, if you have this system its possible to use the same relay to switch on a bigger relay (because its all too much for the small relay in there just 5A) to send the power to the lights in the door handles, but the issue there is threading all the wires, and mounting the lights into the handles properly, thats what put me off but if someone found a way to mount lights into the handles id give it a try.

door handle lights are a doddle mate,
but it does involve drilling a hole .. theres only one wire on each handle to thread as you just Earth the - to somewhere within the door,
the + feed you just thread thru the rubber covers on the door looms they carnt be seen that way or risk of em being trapped,

So whats on your list of mods farmer p?
are you planning on putting on External lights under the Handles?

Right back to this Fecking bsi thing ..what makes it Go loopy if you add more things that drain power,
can this bsi thingy not be sacked and just by -passed somehow?.... no ithink ibetter forget that thought! imight end up with a Funked car ,

now im thinking of just getting power from elsewhere rear lights perhaps

you cant drain extra power from the courtesy lights or the puddle lights or it makes the bsi go bonkers. you need to get a power supply direct from the battery into the cabin, then you can start to play around adding extra stuff. The 12v socket for the ciggy lighter is safe enough.

As for any list ive no real plans for adding lights in the door hanldes, but if i see a good idea like that done here by someone ill know its do-able so ill give it a go myself.

SUCCESS the footwell lights are working:
Image
however this device/circuit is supposed to be switchable between light and dark activating the relay but i can only get the thing activated by the dark. So that means just wiring it up different into the relay, but i wonder when the relay is on is it draining power because if it is i need to sort that out. But other than that the reaction time of the circuit is instant, no delay at all, and its nice in that as you know the 406 courtesy light comes on when the central locking is unlocked, this also comes on.
I also need to install it in a bit better, at the moment its only just sitting back up under the carpet and rattling like mad, but if i do get another circuit with a working switch id need to take it out again, DANG diddly squat.

so heres a vid of it working:
dEleoMpjq6g
this ones better its when it was all put in properly:
B7LTqagatlQ
you can see the delay of the courtesy light works on this as well, as for it draining the power if left on, the companys sending me out a ready made circuit, so i can just wire it into the exhisting place and it will work properly thereafter.

so thats the footwell lighting issue sorted. 3 different circuits tried and now waiting for the 4th.

The footwell lighting is a pretty sweet feature. Is your PCB in a neat plastic case, and how did you mount it to the underside of the dash?
