If it's a D9 then it's multiplex, or did you mean pre com2000? I'd be interested to see how the engine fuse panel compares to yours if it is...

hold on a second, you have a sat nav mfd. Theres only 1 way to check, does it have 2 buttons, or a just a black hole. If its the latter then its the sat nav one. But its hard to say if its any good. Have you a pic of it and i can tell straight away if it is?

I dont know yet, but i remember selling my old black door handles on ebay for £20 the set, the drivers leccy window switch is working and they are like gold on ebay, ill also sell the exterior door handles, window motors, ie easy stuff to test and remove. Dont go asking me for piston rings, or injectors, i dont know how to take them things off, or how to test them.

No probs gary, thanks anyhow for the help.
As for the other bit, the car doesnt run, its got a typically hdiish sort of problem, something extremley complex, but yet very simple, but yet very expensive and yet most likely very electrcial which hinters foward and rearwards propulsion from the car, it is capable of being rolled down a hill but the internal combustion engine inside it is incapable of moving the wheels. If you want a part from that engine i suggest the dipstick, oil filler cap and thats all im sure of.
Is there some safety tip related to removing a fuel injector to prevent them stabbing me with high pressure diesel?

Drain all the diesel out of the system and disconnect the battery before going anywhere near the injectors?

I would suggest doing this by syphoning all the diesel out of the fuel tank, removing the fuel tank, then removing the fuel filter and draining all the diesel into pans. You can then re-use it, assuming the problem with the car isn't "crap diesel-itis".

Someone will now come along and tell me that I'm wrong though.

is that enough, i read if you get a wound caused by a fuel injector its not good.
wikipedia
Fuel injection introduces potential hazards in engine maintenance due to the high fuel pressures used. Residual pressure can remain in the fuel lines long after an injection-equipped engine has been shut down. This residual pressure must be relieved, and if it is done so by external bleed-off, the fuel must be safely contained. If a high-pressure diesel fuel injector is removed from its seat and operated in open air, there is a risk to the operator of injury by hypodermic jet-injection, even with only 100 psi (6.9 bar) pressure[18]. The first known such injury occurred in 1937 during a diesel engine maintenance operation[19].

Why would you be wrong G? If there's no fuel it can't develop any pressure. I think you're right to be cautious FP, I've not worked on the HDi's injection system (yet) but all the warnings have me worried too. The datatsheet I have says leave it for 30 seconds, which doesn't really sound long enough to me. Maybe a fortnight...

I didn't think auto-lights came on pre-multiplex cars? May be interested in adding that to mine if that's right.

theres a sensor where my sensor is, except this one shows an orange light, i think perhaps its auto wipers not auto lights. why when they had auto wipers installed and didnt go on ahead with auto lights is quite strange indeed. But let me get the car home first, then ill see what parts are good on it.
I intend on keeping the radiator, always a handy thing to have spare especially at the price of them.
