Was quite pleased to pick up some brand new headlight protecters until I recieved them today and tried to fit them

Advertised as "believe" they are for a mk1 406, only to find they are for a D9
Not sure whether to sell them on, or cut them down to fit, as when you place them against my D8 lights, it only appears the innermost parts of the light profile are different.

Picked up a brand new radio control stalk, and a brand new wiper control stalk but with the trip feature 8)
Going to have a look over the weekend and see if I can get the trip function working

Where do I find the ecu to see if I can find the wire required - 1368 wasn't it?

Had a spare lion boot emblem that, although is better than the one fitted, is still corroded.
Have passed onto my mate for him to colour code to my car.
Just need to find a lion to fit over the soon to be colour coded emblem ala tatsfield on the coupe forum.

Radio stalk on the D8 and D9 relative to the circuit board is completely different.

D8 wiring coming out the stalk goes white, red, blue, and the new one goes blue, red, white.
Thought I was being to clever by simply soldering the white to blue, red to red and blue to white - had everything bar volume control which altered frequency
Resoldered it up so colours corresponded but only had frequency change.

Had the arms apart last night and I can confirm the boards are very different.

Hindsight says considering there are only 6 permutations available, I should of got a connector block, and tried the 6 combinations out first before soldering up.
Had my soldering iron stolen, and had previously nipped to another mates shop to borrow his, but was running late tonight, so didn't have time to go and desolder the joints.

Bit dissapointed in that I ordered the new indicator arm sunday, and still not recieved.
On "my ebay" the seller hasn't marked it as sent yet, despite on their "terms" saying despateched within one day of cleared payment - which I paid by paypal on sunday.
Ok, they emailed on monday to request a chassis number in order to confirm fitment, but still gave them time to get one sent out - judging by their feedback they send out shed loads of stuff every wekk, so it might be reasonable to assume, parts are "collected" from them by royal mail, instead of needing to go to the post office to send out. I know even first class can mean postage isn't late until 14 days has expired, but ever since I removed my indicator arm to find the codes for it, the bloody thing is playing up more than ever, and starting to get annoying - especially without the option of dropping a hand down slightly to use the radio stalk :D
Makes you think they might be selling stuff they actually don't have stock for, and ordering as required :(

Just ordered a radio stalk off a D9 and the plastic (with the hole for it) under the steering wheel. Will they fit on the D8 with no problems. Will connect it to my Pioneer Deh-4000UB. Have you got any pics of the stalk board? p.s. Great ride :)

The way I say it was there are 3 wires and if the wires run to the plug correctly, then there are only 6 combinations of wires available.

I changed the plug over, as the wires on the plug go into different positions on the D9 and D8

Despite this, I tried all 6 combinations and couldn't get all options working correctly - best I could achieve was losing volume option.

I think i'm now going to desolder the grey and purple wires from the actual arm from the circuit board and solder the new arm to my original board as the boards are very different as well.
If the board was just a collection of circuits the 6 combination idea above would of worked, but there are other components on the board that must alter the signal sent and the D8 isn't recognising the D9 signals correctly.

On another note, my indicator arm hasn't arrived - ok, been on holiday for a week, but not been carded, and been round next door and they haven't accepted anything for us.

Captain paranoia said there'd be a problem
Feedback for them is 99.6% but one of the few bad feedbacks said only problem was it took so long for delivery!
I ordered on the sunday, they despatch within one working day according to their blurb, so should of had it mid to late last week.
They had 2 delivery options and second was parcelforce so might be reasonable to assume they used the post office, and like I say, no card to say collect from the callers office :( :(

Contacted the seller monday, and they said, the indicator arm must of been lost in post and would send me another one out - more like forgot to send :cheesy:
Anyway, recieved it yesterday and fitted it in. Got a right clunk to it now

Just need to sort this radio stalk out now
Shame I cut the wiring short on the old stalk, might have to source a second hand one to make this work as I only cut the wires short as wasn't expecting a problem at all.

Been on the lookout for some chrome door handles to try and finish the interior off - that and a chrome handbrake button - although i'm seriously thinking of just going the stealers for the latter.

From my rc experience, I know the chrome plated plastic parts are weaker than their standard counterparts. This and along with the fact, the stealer mentioned they sell a few singular ones, made me think that maybe it would be an expensive upgrade long term.

Second hand ones could be showing signs of wear i.e. scratches, plus over time may of become stressed, aren't easy to find AND attract a premium, a decision was made to aquire some second hand door handles and send them to be professionally painted by the same guys who did my dash parts. Thanks to Omega for coming up trumps.

One thing I noticed with the dash parts I had painted is that any lines on the parts show up considerably in silver but not in black.
The handles have a slight ridge running all the way round dividing the front from the back of the handle, so got some wet and dry and tried to smooth the handles as best as possible on friday. However the painters had closed for the day by time i'd finished doing so, so dropped them off to them this morning.
Unfortunately got back tonight after they had closed otherwise i'd be out stripping door cards off and fitting the handles and the ashwood door trims to the car.

Got new trim clips to fit the ashwood trim, but thinking it might be wise to buy some door card clips first before attempting as no doubt most will break :|

Kind of cocked up, and should of had something down like a blanket before attempting the job, as getting the rods onto the rear door handles was a right pig to do, and ended up dropping both rear ones whilst attempting to fit and both now have chips out of them :( Will see if it's possible to touch them in

Excuse the mess as work in progress at mo, and I also still need to solder the D9 new stalk to the D8 circuit board for the radio control.

Excuse pics as done on phone and light was fading - will try and redo tomoz in a better light and with proper camera

Fronts weren't too bad, but the rears I struggled to hold the rods in place whilst trying to lever the handle over them and whilst holding the rod and the handle partly on, I reached for another tool, only for them to fall off.

Think once you've done this job a couple of times it gets a lot easier

Was planning on taking the window switches apart in the drivers door, as I can't operate the passenger front, and I can lower the drivers rear but not put it back up.
However my mechanic mate was repairing a 307 the other day and said he bought the whole comparible section from the stealer for £37 IIRC

Don't need the whole section, just the 2 sets of front and rear switches, and was hoping to get back at a reasonable time today as was going to get him to ring the stealer as gets better discount than I can get, but finished later than expected.

Out of curiosity if anyone has access to service box, i'd be interested to know how much they are listed for? ......... please

There's a few to choose from - D8 / D9, with/out foldy mirrors, with/out heated mirrors and maybe with/without memory seats/mirrors....

Gis a clue

Don't seem to sell anything other than the whole assy. - the 'poshest' one is:
Reference Description Quantity Price - VAT Price + VAT Total
00006554CA CONTACTOR PLATE 133.10 GBP 156.39 GBP

Sounds like a job for Blue406.....
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

D8 / D9 - D8
with/out foldy mirrors - without
with/out heated mirrors - ?? never thought about it
and maybe with/without memory seats/mirrors.... - without

Anyway, if they are that dear, maybe it's worth pulling apart still - just surprised when my mate only paid the £37 for a 307 one - maybe on offer

either that, or just get some switches that work off someone breaking a car
