Are you planning to completely remove the EGR and pipework, or just slide a descrete one in either end?
I chose to do the latter, purely for peace of mind in case I encountered an over zealous MOT inspector...

Re: My GTX
Just slide the blank in, for the same reason.

Re: My GTX
Well things with the gtx have never been straightforward and fitting the blank has been no exception.
To start with one of the allen bolts was almost completely rounded off so was a sod to get off, then I couldn't get enough space to slide the blank in so had to remove the elbow. Wish I'd just left it to be honest now.

Anyway given the elbow a good clean and this is what I'm left with.

Only problem is the manifold is nearly as bad as the elbow was, and I can't be bothered to take the bloody thing off. I think I'll give some of that wyns egr spray a go when it's all back together.

A bit more, quick mock up of the gasket as I can't get one before next week. Egr blank siliconed in place, also had to elongate the holes on the blank as they were to far spaced apart.

I'll make a neat one while the awful black stuff sets.

Well it's all back together, and what a difference. It feels like a different car, it picks up better, going up a steep hill near where I live I'd have to drop it down to second gear now it pulls up cleanly without having to drop a gear. It even sounds quieter and less rattly.

Re: My GTX
Managed to find the source of the knocking this morning. Went into ecp but all they had was a starline on the shelf but for £8 I thought sod it i'll use it to eliminate them from list of things it could be.

Anyway took it home and started to remove the drivers side link, gave everything a good soaking in easing oil. But as usual the gtx wanted a fight. And the hex recess completely rounded off with only a few turns left to go
so had to break out the angle grinder to cut the nut off.

Surprisingly the bottom one came off with out much fuss.

Once the link was off it was obvious that it needed changing the top ball joint was lose and rattles when shook.

Time to go hunting for some decent links.
