Not too shabby for the price!!!! 8)
The biggest difference I noticed with the handbrake was adjusting the cables up (after I'd replaced them; the adjuster was rusted solid!)

More simple? I suppose simpler than the hdi, the 2.1 12v i had, didnt need any sensors to work, and just had one wire to the engine which kept it running haha

I dont know, i suppose i will find out how reliable they are!

I used to have a 1.8 16v xantia (older style engine though, code starting XU this one being EW10J4 styleee :)

Didnt have any issues with that, but im guessing that was simpler than this, this has that odd coil over spark plug arrangement which ive not have much luck with in past cars (allbeit the one i had it on before was a fiat...)

HDi's are forever suffering engine management faults, engine mounts, bottom pulley's (or is it pullies now?), DMF's, EGR's, sensors, exhausts, etc.. whereas we never hear a bad word said about the petrols :|

Sorry. I cant see images at work

Ah that means you more than likely have the EW10J4 like I have in the coupe. Ultra reliable.

Put your foot under the accelerator pedal, if can lift it up to any extent then the cable is slack. You should use you adjuster and try to make the cable taut. If you can do that, then you'll notice a huge difference. Be careful with the breather pipes, they get very brittle, I smashed mine by barely touching them and forked out €38 for a new one. The coolant temp sensor is the main suspect for rough idle and excessive exhaust emissions. All in all its a smashing engine altough not that quick. Mine has returned 35.3MPG over 3700 miles on the trip computer.

Ah, i have a bit of a rough idle on this one,

and i think my throttle cable has stretched, ive had to make myself a spacer to get it to go taught haha..

My sister has a hdi 90 and only problem so far on that is the maf, although i suspect the bottom pulley is on its way out haha, i had to get a bottom pulley for my 2.1 after the woodruff key split in 2 :S

Haha, its a good garage, good space to work in,

Cue random photo with the old car and the mg

(the mg is hiding in the garage in the other pictures  and in this picture, the fuel pump had ripped itself clean off the engine of my 2.1 :/ Still to this day cant work out how it snapped all the mounting bolts without the timing belt falling off!)
