Thanks guys
Gary, I've been thinking about it but I'm not at all skilled with spray paints and I'm concerned I'd ruin it. Also Regency Red seems a difficult one to get hold of, I've never seen another 406 in this colour!
midsmike, yep it's an LX. But I've retrofitted a trip computer if that was what's confusing you.

What's your paint code? Should be a four-character code that will have been spray-painted (in the factory) on to one of your suspension turrets under the bonnet.

I was considering colour coding the mirrors on my LX, my plan was to nab a pair of front covers from the breakers and spray them up. That way if you make a complete balls up you just bin them.
The front covers are really easy to remove, just fold the mirrors in and you'll see a release catch, prod a screwdriver in and pop them off.
I can't imagine paying more than a couple of quid at the breakers and a few rattle cans wont cost the earth and will come in handy for touch ups in the future.
If you get ones that are already painted you wont need to worry about the primer bonding to plastic.

The paint code on the suspension turret is P0JZ. The car is listed as Regency Red in the original receipt from the Peugeot dealer.
Good advice on getting some already painted mirror backs from a scrappy, will try and hunt some down. I haven't managed to find any spray paint of the correct colour yet though.

any proper car paint shop will mix that paint up without any problems at all....
http://www.wigancarpaints.co.uk/ ring these if you dont have a paint shop down there. these guys are brilliant and have been running this same shop many years .
im sure they will post stuff to you if you pay over the phone with your card. you have my word its a well established shop in wigan.
just give them the code and they will mix the colour up and put it into a tin for you

Got all the lower dash panels in black from an HDi at a scrappie today. Here's the driver's side:
You'll note the yellow cable tie until I sort out a proper fastener, since the D8 and D9 ones don't match in that corner. I'll drill it and stick a screw through there soon.
Passenger side glovebox surround is fitted, but I broke the new glovebox hinge as I was putting it in
So I've got a new one coming.
Edit: also got D9 air vents

Glovebox changed to black:
Got myself a leather interior from a local breaker as well. Fantastic condition, hardly a mark on them (until I got my mitts on them). Full leather electric heated seats (with complete loom & ECU) and exec parcel shelf for £120, not too bad I didn't think.
I didn't bother documenting this too much as others have already done so (thanks a lot, your pics/advice helped loads).
Back seats were easy:
Changed the pre-tensioners and wiring for them over from the original seats:
Passenger seat out and sorting out wiring for the electric seats:
And driver's side
I didn't want to bother with memory and the ECU faff, so I bypassed it and wired the switches directly to the motors:
And grounded the two free pads on the seat switch unit:
Centre console going back in
Done!
