Mondie got a little dusty today so have it a little clean.

It's a 1.8 TDCi Titanium. 98k and I paid £5,900 plus I part ex'd my 406.
It has optional Bluetooth, Sony 6CD changer with AUX input and Voice Activation (Works with the climate, Radio and phone).

It's a great drive, very smooth, gutsy and it looks fantastic :D

And voice acitivation...

This works for the Climate Control, Radio and the Phone.
For instance if you press it and say "Climate, Tempretur, Twenty" it will set the climate to 20°c.
Very good system, although totally pointless!

A very happy Bailes. :)

No that was only the MK3 Mondeo TDCi's.
The TDCi engines in the MK3 are pretty unreliable.

Modern fords use Peugeot 2.0 HDi 136 engine.

This has a 1.8TDCi which is actually derived from the old 1.8D you used to find in escort vans. Over the years they fitted different turbos, pumps etc etc and honed it until these days it's fully common rail, pretty efficiant and pushing 125bhp. Also unbelivably quiet, keep thinking I've stalled it

Very nice.

So that will be one of these: 1.8 / 123hp / 320Nm / 17 / G / 48 / 10.2

Also available as (displacement / power / torque / insurance / tax / mpg / 0--60):
  • 1.6 / 113 / 290 / 17 / C / 65 / 11.6
  • 2.2 / 197 / 420 / 26 / G / 47 / 7.8
  • 2.2 / 172 / 400 / 23 / G / 45 / 8.4
  • 2.0 / 140 / 320 / 19 / D / 57 / 9.3
  • 2.0 / 138 / 320 / 23 / E / 53 / 9.3 <-- compare insurance to above!
  • 2.0 / 115 / ? / 17 / E / 54 / ?
  • 2.0 / 160 / 340 / 22 / D / 57 / 8.6
  • 2.0 / 163 / ? / 23 / E / 53 / ?
Do any two of Modeos have the same engine?

Presumably all the 2.0 are French HDis and the 1.6 is the useless lump we're familiar with?

Looks like you're well down the insurance groups, which I guess is your priority. The 2.0/140 or maybe 160 would be the pick for me. Although I'd like to see power and torque curves.

(406: 2.0 / 90 / 205 / 23 / F / 51 / 14. Notice how you don't get much more MPG from the newer cars, just more power.)
