My Old Mowtah

Post by DaiRees »

Also Jasper5's old mowtah and Peter64's new mowtah.

Had a great facebook chat with Peter this afternoon talking about my old 406 HPi Exectutive Estate which he's now managed to wrestle from his brother John

I'm delighted to hear that the old bus is going from strength to strength and is safe in the hands of someone who's going to love and care for it as much as John and I did. Peter's given me permission to post these pics that he took today, I think you'll agree that she still looks fantastic, you'd never believe she's just turned 15!!

On a separate note, when the hell did Photobucket become virtually unusable?

I agree strongly :D

Photobucket? glad it's not just me then, SLOW and CONFUSING, throwing you out of log-in's etc

To me I think the general feel is "pay up for no adverts and it'll speed up and work for you again" :frown:

Lovely car :) It's a shame the HPi wasn't very successful, it was a really neat bit of engine design.

In fact its like is starting to become common again these days in downsized turbo'd gasolines.

Inspired* by Dai's old motor above I thought I'd check and see how my old T-reg 406 was doing these days.......

Not so good.

Last MOT ran out in March 2015 and there's no record of it being taxed either so it's dead, poor thing, looking at the MOT History it certainly didn't die without putting up a massive fight

I just checked the original Dogmobile, (which is taxed until October and Mot'ed until November). 8)
Passed it's last test on 14/11/2016 at 271,200 miles with 2 advisories for worn tyres.

Why did I sell it - what? nearly 5 years ago.

I still see it regularly, it's doing well! Soon to have a new clutch, DMF and 6-speed box...

I remember chasing it around the hills of Merthyr...

My black 406 is still on the road, passing MOTs with only service items (tyres and suchlike) - 198k.

My Honda is still on the road too, but looking at its MOT history, I am glad I didn't keep it! 175k - surprised it's lasting this long.

I think modernish motors (pre 2008) will survive long after having various bits replaced like fuel pumps, injectors, EGR's etc in the early years as very often the replacement parts are improved so as not to fail again.

Not sure how this new breed of stressed and emissions strangled cars will fair.....
