A set of 19's with the right profile and lowered 40mm will fit comfortably without rubbing.

Yep, but it never smoked! Actually, this is from the summer - it needs a really good clean tomorrow.

Nah, just been busy with crap. I went to a scrappy last week and got all sorts of stuff for my pug. For example, I have new vents with a silver knobby thing from a D9. Also, nicked a leather gear knob, but I have NO IDEA how to remove the existing one. I feel like I am gonna break off the whole lever trying to get it off. Is there a tried and tested method? Maybe soften it up with a heater gun? :?

The gear knob is a real bugger! did on mine you turn it through 90 (?) degrees anti clock wise, but it is really stiff and does feel like it will break. i ended up laying across the passenger seat to get my off

[knob, stiff and laying in a single post, i am sure some of you could rewrite that in a more entertaining way]

I'll try that, but if the actual stick comes off, you can come around to fix it :P

When I put the new one on, what glue is recommended for it? I know none is used for existing one, but I want it on tight :)

My D9 came with a detatchable knob, courtesy some Italian gorilla. It's now held on with a tiny tiny blob of epoxy.

Whilst i was laying face down across the passenger seat trying to remove my stiff nob ,out of frustration
i gave it one final 90 deg twist and it came off in my hand  i was left there pondering on what glue to
use to stick it back on and if i should tell the mrs. Wish i had one like steve's,after some italian bloke gave it a good
yanking it is now totally detachable   :P :P
