My Pugs

Hi all,

Thought it was time I posted some pics of the three 406's I have owned.

All three were/are v6's, I like the performance from that 3ltr lump.

This was the first one, a manual D8 that got me hooked on the pug.

Can't remember why I chose it I'm just glad I did :D :D :

Unfortunately it came to a premature end when a nice lady pulled out on me and left me nowhere to go :x

I then went out and bought this:

This was an auto D9, loved the smoothness of the auto box but missed the more punchy performance of the D8.

This one spontaneously combusted on the A14 one Sunday lunchtime, the mileage had just clicked onto 66,666 (I kid you not!!) when it lost power, limped to the side the road, and the front end went up in flames. Another write off.......................I was gutted!!

After that experience I swore never to buy another 406, so I went for an Omega, primarily cos of the lpg conversion it had, cheap to run but was a gutless 2.6 v6 that just did not compare!.

As is the way with me it seems, it too commited hari kiri, the No 3 piston disintegrating and effectively writing off the engine/car.

I then almost stepped into the world of BMW ownership, a mate was selling an E39 523i SE prior to emigrating to Australia, but luckily (well I think so :cheesy: ) I found this one :

It's a 2003 D9 manual with 52k on the clock that was a covert car for the Somerset and Avon Constabulary CID. The only mod I'm aware of is the ability to alternately flash the main beam.

I've just had it converted to lpg and can see no reason why I would want to change it..................

until the Gremlins come to call again!!! :)

Nice cars stev6e 8)
Glad I can't match your tale of woes, (at least so far)

That headlight mod could be really useful in heavy traffic....any channce of a 'how to'? :P

Thanks dogslife,

That isn't half the story regarding the omega, but I try not to remind myself :( :(

Easy mod I reckon, I know there's an extra cable with an inline fuse straight off the battery, a switch in the stowage behind the ashtray and a relay you can here changing over as the lights alternate!!

Don't think there'll be much more to it than that.

I have to say the thought of sitting in the outside lane, dressed in white shirt, black tie etc, with the lights flashing has merit :P

Not sure about the legality though (lol), wouldn't want to get done for impersonating!! :cheesy: :cheesy:
