Squeaking Arse-End

Post by CountryPug »

Right, the rear of my HDI 90 has started squeaking terribly, so much now that the slightest bump or dip in the road and it squeaks (now attracting looks from passers by). I've had the rear wheels off expecting to find an obvious sign of bush wear or looseness somewhere, but everything looks reasonable and I can't encourage the squeak when the car is off the ground :?

The symptoms are: squeaking when back of the car dips down (going over a bump etc.) and also when putting your foot to the top of the rear wheel and pushing against it. I've greased the rear shocks thinking they might just be dry but this hasn't helped.

Thanks for any advice 8)

Nope, the exhaust is solid. My best guess is probably that the anti-roll bar bushes are on the way out, but I expected to see more obvious wear.

Ok, just been to the local garage to pay for an air-con topup and hes diagnosed it as a 'rear anti-roll bar stabiliser link' as he replaced one on a 406 last week which was making the same noises. :cheesy:
