Bridgestone B250 tyres are inexpensive, grippy, and of good quality. I bought a complete set of them to replace the tyres that came supplied with my alloys that I bought off eBay, and they completely transformed how the car corners and "feels"

Can't describe it, but it just seems better.

2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

My coupé has 215/55/16W Firestone TZ300a's (£100 each) in each corner. VERY good tyre.

My Golf has crap no-name 18" things (£50 each) in each corner and it shows. Good fun though

Er, after 20 years of driving, I've never been able to tell the difference between expensive or cheap tyres. I used to go for Uniroyals years ago, but I have no idea if they are any better or worse than anything else so I go for the cheapest now.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.

Only a few times I bought "budget" tyres;

A front pair of "pneumant" on my nova many years ago, drove out of the tyre shop on a rainy day and ploughed straight on at the first corner in a serious brown trouser moment, we aren't talking less grip, we're talking no grip  . Drove straight back into the tyre shop and changed them for something decent  .

A front pair on my mundano, fitted in the summer and provided loads of grip on the dry roads, was pretty happy with them until they wore out at about 6000 miles. My tyre of choice at the time were Conti Super contacts at about £50 each which typically lasted 12000 miles. Budget rubber cost £40 each, therefore a very false economy  .

Also nearly wrote the pre-ABS mundano off when it had budget tyres on the front and I had to make an emergency stop at motorway speeds, locked up one wheel and left the longest skid mark I ever made. Should have seen the black line on the road too :supafrisk:

What I'd like is a simple comparison of all the info already displayed on yer boots, like 'Treadwear 180 or 360' etc.

Wot's it all mean? Can you do a direct comparison without looking like 'Where's Wally'?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Unless you were in a MAJOR claim accident and the tyres were actually bald or damaged I dont think they can differentiate as Tyres need to be Government approved before sale..
The Bridgestones mentioned above are high on my list as are P6000's.
For work, they grip and last and remain sharp till they die.
