Does your car have discs or drums on the back?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Mine was a bit like this too, (though my handbrake did pull up a fair way), when I stripped it down, I found one of the linings had come off a handbrake shoe.

Bloomin ek mate,
Looks like you got your moneys worth outa the shoes and pads,
My pads get replaced every 6mth in every car ive had,

the pads on the puggy still look good but im changing them shortly for what they cost its not worth running them past half way,
theres no slack in the handbrake cable, and my mate Recons. the shoes where replaced 6-7mths ago along with one of the brake cables, so ipresume the shoes shouid be fine still,

Do these 406s have a brake compensator or in other words used A load distributor ?
