Knocking on Steering

Post by jonti007 »

Hi All, I have developed a knocking when turning the steering wheel. On investigation I find the knock is coming from the front nearside suspension strut., looking from the top where the upper mounting bolts are ( with bonnet open ) I can see that when I turn the steering wheel it is trying to turn the strut and it clicks back and I get a click click, click ( or Knock ).
Anyone had this problem? Is it serious? Is the strut Knackered??
Any help would be really useful.
Thanks Guys in anticipation

Ihad that on a pug 306,

aclunk when you turned the steering wheel,

it was a Weak spring, ijust went to breakers yard and got a complete strut with spring, swapped it over, saves time and a few quid,
