Does the ABS warning light come on when you turn on the ignition and turn off after a few seconds?
Did you ever get the discs checked out?

Maybe, but if I was looking at the car I would want to completely eliminate the brake discs.....there may be nothing wrong with them, but I have a system of working when trying to diagnose such faults and my first thought would always be to eliminate the discs from the equation.
The last time I had a reluctor ring failure was on a 206, the light came on and there was a nasty vibration through the brake pedal, there is quite a big difference with a brake disc problem and an ABS problem.

hi dieselink, sorry too hear your problem isn't sorted. Afraid I don't know much about the mot in Britain as I'm from Ireland but I can tell you that my car passed the Irish NCT with a cracked reluctor ring. Brakes were giving very similiar symptoms to yours ie. intermittent clunking feeling through the pedal. however braking power still did not seem to be affected. The car passed because the abs warning light came on and off after ignition, no imbalances were detected and there appeared to be no loss of braking power.........I can only assume the mot is the same? but on the other hand
