I had a look at my disk brakes, and i dont like the rusty look that the bits that arent in contact with the pads, can these be painted ive seen some cars with them red, but can any paint be used and can the same colour of the cars paint be used to colour them.

Do you mean the calipers?

You get caliper paint for that (the calipers, despite not being part of the friction surface, still get hot, so you need special paint). I'd like to paint mine but I just haven't got the time or the skill to do it properly.

I've just painted mine in black hammerite with a brush. Done it several times before and it lasts for quite a while. I did mine when I replaced the discs and pads the other weekend. Good thing is, with it being hammerite and painted by brush, it means that you can redo it whenever you need to and it's cheap, easy and quick to do. You can get the proper paint as stated, but I don't really see the point paying that much more when you don't really need it.

on a previous car i used normal red hamerite. never had any problems with it.

most diy stores do there own range these days of hi temp paint in loads of colors that can used

now im not pulling your goat here the little tins if model paint by humbrol work very well and you will be surprised at just how far one little tin goes and they have loads of colors available

Mine are all painted in Halfords Hi-temp satin black.Dont do colours,black doesnt look so bad when its older whereas red goes pink urgh.Mine still look fine despite it being the first job i did on it,4 years ago.

I think it's nice to see the flange part of the disc (the hub bit) painted in VHT silver as this bit always goes rusty within a week or two. Audi and BMW seem to do it as standard.

Caliper-wise; Black or Silver for me, none of that yellow and red look.

what color is ure car? i think red goes with near to any color
normaly if u go down to any aftermarket dealer they have tons of paint made specialy for the calipers , gonna be doing mine to when i next service the brakes

the cars dark navy or as it says on the tin rhodes bleu might go for black, the executive isnt really a red brake car a bit like putting racing stripes on a roller

or go for a bit of bling , and take a silverish color , that will also look nice
