remould tyre havnt seen any of them since the 80s
a remould tyre is basically a old tyre with a new tread stuck do it
my advice

DONT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE
if you decide to ignore this make sure you dont fit them to the front.

if you are skint you would be better off buying a part worn.now some people will tell you not to do this but most people drive on second hand tyres eg they bought the car second hand so dont know the history of the tyres.always check a part worn for tread ,sidewall damage eg bulges cuts and you should be okay.

remember though some cheaper tyres dont preform as well as others in terms of grip offered and braking distances can be longer with cheaper tyres. Just dont skimp on tyres. I had to get 2 front ones when i got the car £130 for a pair of pirellis plus balancing and wheel alignment, the rears i dont think are as important, but i went to a breakers and got tyres off new write offs ie young cars that are crashed so they are essentially still new.

I bought my Michelin Energy tyres from Costco , £70 each including fitting, balancing , I find the michelins good grip and long lasting.

I would define them as good tyres, im on about new tyres that are about £30 new, and have some unheard of brand name.

One thing about part worns - the rubber on old tyres goes hard so you really need to check just how old they are.

I have used, and still do use, remould tyres on my Dellow Trials car for both on road and off road work.
Nothing wrong with them! and at sub £20 each for what is effectively a new tyre exceedingly good value.
On the trials car you could sometimes nock out a pair of tyres after only a couple of events - once the sharp edges of the tread have worn or rounded the grip level is lost.
Another good point is that you can get some of the old tread patterns which are a lot more open and better at clearing the mud from the tread.
KIngpin KMT is the same pattern as the old Michelin MT which give excellent grip.
Another thing is you are doing your bit for the environment by recycling!!!

I've seen how these "remoulds" come off the wheels in America on interstate highways. The thread strip thing that is stuck to the original wheel simply comes off at speed. Very spectacular to watch.

Wouldn't touch one ever.

I have Colway All Terrains on the disco, they are a remould and only safe at speeds up to 130kph, but in all honestly thats about all my disco does without down hill gradient and a bloody strong tailwind.

i have chosen these as they are my winter tyres and wont be going quickly and when summer comes again they will be replaced with Insa Turbo Dakars which are another remould, but its a different world for 4x4 tyres if i still had anything that liked speed i think i would be steering well clear of the remoulds.
