Following on from my post regarding the cam belt on my 406, I'd value your opinions about a knocking noise the car has from the back end when it goes over bumps, humps and potholes.
The car in question is a 1999 406 2litre Diesel HDi Estate. I jacked it up and found a bit of movement in the rear wheels and concluded it was the stabiliser drop link arms (or whatever they're called). These were duly changed and it was clear there was loads of play in both ends of both arms. However the noise is still there. Could it be that the bushes on the anti roll cross bar are knackered and also need changing? If so are these easy to do? I've not got my hands on a Haynes Manual yet, so am a bit in the dark about it.
Thanks in advance again guys.

Re: Rear end knock
Very common problem the anti roll bar bushes wearing out and causing a rattle/knocking.
They aren't that bad to change but you can have broken bolts/nuts due to corrosion.
Safely jack up the car and fit axle stands then grab hold of the anti roll bar and feel for up and down movement.
There's info on them if you do a search.

Also found a post from someone about how good the search engine is on here. Too right, it's brilliant!
