steering gone tight

hi all just re mot'd my hdi 90 and it only cost 30 odd quid to get it sorted but i got a precautionary sheet saying my steering was a bit tight hadn't noticed until it was pointed out but when you come out of a junction and straighten up the steering wheel doesn't centre up like it used to it feels a bit stiff either side of straight ahead could it be as simple as a fluid change or have i got a problem down at the hub any help would be appreciated ta

any weird noises ? under the bonnet ?

have you checked the steering fluid ?

It could be just a ball joint but it's odd they didn't spot it on the mot.

no horrible squeely noises fluid is full gonna just change it and see it's due a service anyway will let ya know how i get on thanks for your interest

Check the universal joint at the bottom of the steering column (the one going to the rack)it may have gone tight and need lubricating or replacing.

Check the suspension leg top bearings as well.

If it's a constant squealing noise that gets worse when you turn the wheel then I'm afraid your pump is probably fubar.If it sounds like a rusty gate when you turn the wheel then as above :arrowu:

I have a feeling that it could be the power steering damper which delivers the hydraulic power to the rack (cylinder as per service pox)
