back anti roll bar??

is it a big job to take this out to replace it also is there any easy way to change the back droplinks as mine are well siezed help much apperciated

what makes you think you need to change the anti roll bar ?

rear droplinks are easy to change but you will need a 4 wheel allignment after doing them ..

I'm getting confused here, which bits are we talking about?

3 are the drop links, 13 are the track arms (or they might be bananas, so long as we all know what bit we're talking about). The track arms have a special offset washer on their inner ends for setting the rear wheel alignment, but apparently if you mark them carefully before removing them and put them back in the same place it'll be ok. The drop links don't do anything apart from connect the roll bar to the hub.

Removing the roll bar looks straight forward in Haynes (doesn't it always?

) but I'm sure I've read you need to drop the fuel tank to get to the r/h clamp. Also the bolts holding the clamps on often seize and shear, are you sure you need to do this?

It must be the bushes he's on about, I can't see the ARB itself failing!
Seized bolts aside it's not a bad job, you can do it with the petrol tank in situ but you'll need to remove the filler and breather hoses to gain access.
Drop links you may need to grind off, check the top stabiliser links as well; these will cause play in the wheels and shoulder wear on the tyres.

well ye see its just more of a ongoing project the car is off the road and i just want to replace stuff like the droplinks discs pads and i just wanted to know if it was a handlin to take it out to paint etc as mine is all rusted

If it's surface rust I wouldn't worry. I've never heard of one rusting through!
Change the ARB bushes, drop links & top stabiliser rods, check the springs while you're under there!

Anti roll bar bushes dont often go on a 406 .. but while your at it you mat as well .

make sure there a good quality bush tho or you will end up replacing them soon again .

Depends on age I guess, I had to change them on both of my 406's front & rear, both P-reg D8's.
