although my d9 estate passed its mot today, one of the advisories was that the drivers side rear trailing arm has play in the front bush.

my questions are:
-is it an easy diy fix to replace the arm?
-does the whole arm have to be replaced? or can i just change the bush?
-anyone know how much a new arm/bush costs to buy?
-would changing the arm throw out the rear wheel tracking?

I'd imagine you need to press the old one out and the new one in. Hmm, Haynes says you have to remove the complete arm. Oh "if the front bush requires renewal it may prove easier/more cost effective to renew the complete mounting bracket assembly" What the fcuk does that mean, the bush is part of the bracket not the arm or they're suggesting you replace the whole kit & kaboodle??

Btw I know there's a change in the arm 'cos the arm on my D8 was tubular and the one on the D9 is cast - here you go - RPO 8497/8 (Feb 2000) so if you get one of a car in t' breakers to change the bushes on and replace yours in one go you know not to get one that's too early.
