Hi everyone. I am having a problem getting hold of a rear brake adjusting kit for my 2000 406. It only has the drums on the back and not discs. My local parts shop says dealers only. I called at the citreon garage cos the parts shop said they sell them. They dont but informed me it is a peugeot part only and cannot get them anywhere else.
Looking like they are right, because I looked on ebay with no luck. My local peugeot dealer is a canny distance from me. The only bit I need is the little metal tag that stops the gear from undoing itself. Mine has broke in two. Does anyone know of any parts company's on line that sell them please.
Thanks everyone for you help.

Is it possible to post a picture of which bit you need, I might have a second hand one in my toolbox if it's the one I think (and the correct side).
Re: 406 rear brake adjuster kits
Hi jasper, sorry I cannot post a picture. I can tell you its on the nearside. It is the little silver spring steel clip that had a flat edge that sits against the cog that winds the rod out onto the brakeshoe to adjust it up. I dont have the remaining piece as when it broke I took it off altogether.
Cheers Stewart.

Re: 406 rear brake adjuster kits
Sorry Stewart, I know which part you need, unfortunately I don't think I have that bit....I'll have a look tomorrow though.
One thing I have done with these when the clip breaks off is to get a "C" clip that will fit inside the thread of the adjusting bar, adjust the brake and clip the "C" clip in the thread to stop the screw from winding back and slackening the adjuster off. It works!
Make sure the clip is a tight fit.

Re: 406 rear brake adjuster kits
Had exactly the same on my 405, dealer only part and it was super expensive. In the end I went down to a scrap yard and got a set of adjusters. Think it cost me a tenner. Discs and pads are so much easier

Re: 406 rear brake adjuster kits
Thanks for the tip jasper, I will certainly be using it if the parts are dear like ally says. I will be taking it for its test at the beginning of November so time to get sorted yet. Again thanks to you all.
