Fitted brembo 4 pots but...

Got round to changing the front and rear brakes today, was just aswell as my front pads had less than 1000 mile left in them and the discs were knackered. Same story with the rear, 3 siezed pad retainer pins, knackered discs, no meat left on the pads and the handbrake pads were disintegrating. Replaced pads with brembo items, fitted goodridge braided hose kit front and rear and brembo discs all round and the brakes work a treat and no pad squeakage whatsoever.

All was ok until I tried to fit my Hoggar rims on the front - they wouldnt clear the calipers. I know they are supposed to as these are fitted to the Coupe and has been said elsewhere on forum, but they really wouldnt go on when tightening up the wheel nuts. I reckon I need a 3 or 5mm spacer to clear.

As a temporary measure I am running some rather hideous 17'' TSW chavtastic wheels which were donated by a friend just so I can be mobile but would really like to get the Hoggars back on and clearing the brembos.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Alex

I've got one idea, but it's a long shot. When I first put the Hoggars on my car they gave it a really wide stance, but the later 406s with them fitted as standard didn't look as wide. If you have a look on the backs of your Hoggars & check the offset, it could be that the coupes got different wheels.

If you don't know what number relates to the offset, post every number that you see on the wheels & I'll be able to tell you.

waue1978 sounds possible. I will measure the offset and check the numbers on the rims. They are the 16'' Hoggars

16ins mate. Same as my Nautilus wheels, but the Hoggars seem to look larger. It's a pity they don't age too well. They all seem to have loads of bubbles on the face & corrosion on the edges of the spokes.

Right. I have the numbers on the inside of the wheel...

6.5J X 16 CH4 - 20

7775-D MR FRANCE X

Those are the only markings on the rims. I am guessing the "20" after the rim sizes is the offset in mm, which might explain why the Hoggars wont clear the Brembos. I am guessing they need to be 15mm offset?

Anyways, for future reference regarding people fitting Brembos who want to fit Hoggars over them, THEY WONT FIT WITHOUT SPACERS!
