I have a 1999 406 diesel 2.0 HDI (D9 I believe) I really don't like the look of the steels that I have, so am looking at Peugeot alloys. As standard my car has 15's but I have been offered a set of 16's from a 206 with tyres.
Would these just drop straight on to my car with no need for any adjustments? Or should I just keep looking for 15's then again would the 15's from a 206 or 306 etc fit straight on?
Apologies for the basic question just Ive never bothered with wheels before as my previous car came with some as standard and before that I couldnt afford them!!
regards
Keith

Re: 16 Inch Wheels
16ins wheels from a 206 won't fit without spacers - the offsets are wrong. 406s need a 10-20mm offset on the wheels & 206s have 25mm+ - this means that the wheels go more towards the middle of the car than they should. One of our members previously had a set of 15ins wheels from a 307 with a 27mm offset on his LX & the pictures show that the wheels sit further inside the arches than they should.
There are 16ins wheels available for the 406 - they just don't show up too often. Most coupes had the Starfish & Hoggar wheel design in 16ins & there's a guy called Ade1122 (that's his Ebay user ID) who specialises in breaking coupes. If you're in a hurry for a set, he'd be able to oblige. I currently have 16ins Nautilus (from the rare Silver & Black special edition coupes) & previously had a set of coupe Hoggars on there & they fill the arches quite nicely, but be aware that the Hoggars can be a pain to get balanced due to the unusual "centreless hubs".

Re: 16 Inch Wheels
your best of staying with 406 alloys. theres a few different ones for a 406 mainly in 15 inch tho unless like waue says you get 406 coupe alloys which are very nice wheels
it took me a while to find a set of 16 inch 406 wheels .
thanks to waue i ended up with a rare set of 16 inch Vulcan 406 alloys that were brand new and still look it today
he posted the link from ebay on forum and i had to have them as soon as i saw them
had to travel 550 miles round trip mind. to get them
heres a pic of the vulcan wheel . not many of these around i beleive they was a optional extra which not many paid for
you do see these on a lot of 206s but as waue says they dont fit and i think the ones on a 206 are 14 inch . the 16 inch like mine for a 406 are very hard to come across
