Hi all just been on a 2300 mile road trip in the last 10 days and its been great ! Just started to get a vibration under braking im suspecting a warped disc i dont want to change the discs if there ok. Does anyone know what the acceptable run out of the brake discs are so i can check them. Also is there anything else that can give these symptoms under braking that i can check.

Thanks matt

Hi Thanks for that will have a look !

What am i looking for with the reluctor rings ? Im guessing corrosion, chipped teeth etc.Does cleaning them up do any good or do they have to be replaced ?

Thanks for that Matt

The more i think about it the more i think i have a abs problem. I have noticed a couple of times whilst braking from slow speeds at junctions that the abs has kicked in on decent surfaces. I have just put it down to a glitch as its only done it a couple of times in the 18 months that i have owned the car. Are they easy to replace ?

Thanks

Matt

the reluctor rings r part of the cv joint, some can be taken off i think, but on my 2002 diesel they seem to be all 1 unit,i did change 1 cv joint a couple of weeks ago on drivers side,it was easyier than i thort it would be,apart from i lost all gear box oil and had to replace, because the drivers side cv joint and drive shaft came right out of the gear box, have been told the pass side dose not do that.i only paid 24 quid for the cv joint and kit so was realy cheap job for a change lol.i found the part at a site called carparts4less,find them realy good and cheap, also its always free delivery.good luck in sorting out yr probs m8.

Are you sure it's not the other way round? I'm positive on my 406 the driver side is held fast with bolts and the passenger side is free to slip out of the gear box. This is the same on 407's aswell.
Nice saving on the cv joint by the way, sure that's as cheap and definitely quicker than just changing the ring!
