heavy steering when moving slow

Post by 406lover »

hi guys, after some help asap please.

since having all this cold weather and snow, my pas has become very heavy when stopped or moving at low speeds, (upto about 15 mph) after that its fine. when i go nearly full lock there is a loud humming noise as if there is no fulid in there, i checked this soon as i got the problem and has never lost any.

i know that you get a noise when you go full lock but its just before this. the car is also very hard to drive, always pulls to the left and when turning you have to trun that lil bit extra to get round the bend. (not good when you are heading for a policeman waiting to cross the road)

any ideas on what could be the cause please. while i think of it just after xmas when truning left it felt as if the left wheel wanted to come under the car when pulling off my drive (sloped kurb) i have to go full lock to the left to get off.

thank you in advance

It couid be the pwr steering pump is failing.

Always best to check other parts before replacing that mind,
Eg, aux belt, tensioners
Or over filled fluid,

I had similar symptoms with my 306 and it was the pump that was fubard
