'Brake Fluid Low." - The Real Name ?

Post by trufflehunt »

You know that message about Low Brake Fluid that can appear
on the display, and is often caused by a faulty switch, near the hand
brake lever.

Could someone tell me what the proper, official Peugeot name
for that microswitch is...?

The technical term is:
[quoteˇ"Service Box"]SWITCH[/quote]

633918 - SWITCH

The thing is it's not just part of the handbrake, a quick search also brought up the tailgate lock and, good grief, it's the same damn switch that turns the light on in the glovebox

Presumably it knows not to put the glovebox light on when the brake fluid runs out. Eh? Oh, ok, I see what the problem is - it's just called "switch" because it's a common part, the same model of switch is used in tailgate lock of an estate, as well as the glovebox light and el handbrake on all 406 saloons, estates & coupés (as well as being somewhere on most Pugs & Citroens, according to Pervert's Socks.) E.g. my estate has 3 of the little darlings.

It does rather mean that if it goes wrong you can swap it for the glovebox switch, take the old switch to your local PSA franchise, stagger up to the spares department, present the switch and say "Gimmeoneofthese, monkey boy."
