ALLOYS

Looking on the bay at tyre prices i found my attention slipping to getting a set of alloys instead "BUT" I'm clueless to what i should go for.

I'm thinking of sticking with 15" and don't need anything flashy but I'm seeing wheels from the 206, 306 and 307 among others but don't know what will fit... All this pcd nonsense and longer bolts just goes over my head

So guys what do i need? what car can i get them from? do i need longer bolts? anything i ain't mentioned?

Remember money is an object it's an object that wants nothing less than pristene metal with 8mm tread all round at a price of no more than 5 pounds a corner.

If you want a set that will fit on without pissing about with spacers they need to come from a 306 or 406 ideally. 206s & 307s all have bigger offsets. If you fancy getting brave, Citroen C5 (not new shape) & Xantia alloys can also be used, as can alloys from a Berlingo or Partner (but not the new shape ones).

Why brave?

There's a decent set quite local to me, 306 Meridian but they're 185x65x14... Is 14" standard on a 306?

Brave because you'd have Citroen badges on the wheels & some of the C5 wheel designs may be a bit too arty-farty for a 406.

Lower spec 306s have 14" alloys, but the sportier models & later /meridians all have 15" in either Cyclone or Laser (like the ones I sold to Sonia) style. Downside would be that they'd only have 195/50x15s on which would be a tad small for a 406.

They are a nice pattern. Not seen a set of those ones up close, but the centre caps look suspiciosly like they may be able to be replaced with Pug ones.

personally I think the best ones are the Raven alloys as found on pre 2000 GLX & Execs. Corails may look more up to date but those spokes stick out a long way from the rim & are just asking to be scraped along the kerbs.

Those ebay wheels are from a Citroen, C5 I think.

Pug 205, 309, 405 and 406 Coupe rims will fit straight on, Pug 206, 307 and newer will need spacers and longer bolts ( to go through the wheel AND the spacer )

Try to find 15" rims, to clear the calipers, or 16" if you have bigger brakes.

I am selling my 16" Starfish alloys from a V6 Coupe if you are interested?

Oi I'm normally the quick one around here that'll teach me for going for a crap late last night.

No worries though I'll stick to my plan of looking for 15's... There's a nice set near you actually but the guy ain't fussed on posting.

Sorry to drag this back up but need some info.

Went to a friend of a friend's over the weekend and got talking alloys and he mentioned that another friend  has just broken a 306 and that he kept the alloys from it.

These.

Anyone know what they are? and would i need anything to go with them like spacers (think there's bolts to go with them)

They are 195/65/15's with over 5mm tread on all plus i have two new and two a year old on the car now (had to have new ones after a puncture on the back stopped me having gingers coupe wheels)

Shouldn't grumble though the wheels might not cost me a penny. :supafrisk:

They're 307 wheels. Theoreticall they'll fit as somebody had a set on a certain low mileage 1.8 LX that met with a crusher, but they will sit inside the arches more than 406 wheels should.

Hi mate, I'm pretty sure these are from a 307, but if your mate had them on a 306 with no issues, then they will fit on yours no problem.
If he had them on a 307 then you will need spacers and longer bolts...

Stu beat me to it......
