Well when I picked up the 406 last month, the tyres needed attention.

The fronts are Contis with about 2 mill left

1 on the back is a Sunny and the other one I think is bridgestone - both of these have fair wear left....

But

I absolute hate mix matched tyres - always been a passion of mine esp on the same axle. - Will be a good excuse to get the balancing sorted as that starts to wobble a bit at 70mph as well. + If the rumors are true about a crappy winter coming, new rubber is a must.

So doing a bit of looking around at online reviews etc I've decided on Dunlop bluresponse and got a very good deal through going on blackcircle. - Gonna have them fitted Thurs but just seeing if anyone has them on already and what your thoughts are ?

The ratings are: Fuel = B and wet weather = A, with a noise rating of just 68db

They should be fine, better in fact than what most people would fit. That type of tread pattern makes for very stable cruising, the central band bit helps with this. They are normally very quiet running too.

Only down sides are they will be rubbish in the snow, but there again the 406 is great for grip in the snow so it should balance out.

No it won't.

The 406 Diesel is quite good in the snow, heavy up front, skinny-ish tyres and likes running low revs - that's a good car to have in the snow in my book.

Unsurprisingly, they look similar to my 'fast response's' which have proven to be good to drive, reasonably durable and have a pleasant habit of keeping to the intended circular shape, a feat offerings from Kumho, Hankook, Bridgestone, C*ntinental and Goodyear have all failed to emulate on my 2.2's.

I had my Khumo's go out of shape, took ages to suss out what was going on. I reckon high levels of torque kind of stretch the tyre.
