Master cylinder and servo details.

Hi guys, new to the 406 forum and after some advice and back ground information. Could anyone advise me on if a 1.8 and 2.0 L petrol non-ABS 406 uses the same master cylinder and servo please? I understand that the master cylinders are 23mm in diameter.

The reason I'm asking is I'm looking to upgrade the braking power of a 1.1 106 independence and I've been told either a 1.8 or 2.0 master cylinder and servo combination will work. The only issue I'm aware of us the the servo bolt PCD may be different to the 106, but this can be overcome by realigning the two halves of the servo.

Any back ground help would be appreciated.

You probably want Pug Central or the FCF for that kind of question, we're more for just keeping our cars going on here, bunch of skinflints that we are :cheesy:

I had a quick squint but I presume you'll have access to Service Box so you already know anything I could tell you.

Also, I reckon a non-abs 406 has us confused. It's like a 406 2.0 HDi with a particulate filter: we can see them listed and we can see the spares, but we've never seen one in the flesh :?

FWIW, my bro's old 406, (S-reg 98 1.9TD SX estate), didn't have ABS.

Carn't remember the VIN, though. :oops:

Thanks guys. I totally understand. My first dance with peugeot was from trying to keep my dads 505 on the road. Awesome car to have at 17 with 9 seats!I "progressed" to a 305, had numerous 205's and then the dreaded 306. all diesels. The 405 and 406 are perhaps the only cars I've not owned, but still had fun emptying the water out if my mates 406 engine when he went through a puddle. Really not a good idea to put the intake so low, we some how got away with it, and he swears it run better afterwards.

I've managed to find a non ABS servo and master cylinder from a breakers for £45. Going to see if I can use it when it arrives.

well if the master cylinder dosnt work for you I would be intrested in it.
