Would these be any good on a 406 when replacing a perished brake hose?

Someone on here was selling Braided hoses icarnt rember who it was tho.
but iirc they was cheaper then them there in link.

Ahy there seems to be cheaper on ebay but only a couple of pounds

How well do they work at sharpening up the brakes, i think that mine are a bit spongy especially if compared against something newer like my dads kia.

Ive got some on my eyetalian coke can.
tbh not much difference.. iguess braided will last years longer than standard tho.

What Brake pads are you running on ?

I just have the standard setup, disk brakes all round no fancy brembo stuff like the coupes, they stop ok but the pedal feel just isn't as sharp as the kia, and the system has been bled.
As for the pads, i think they are apec, i think the disks are the same brand.

Try diffent pads mate.
some are sharper then other's idont think much of Apec ive seen them go abit shiny.
E.b.c is pretty good and is a fair price to buy,.

if your pads and discs aint been on long maybe not bedded in fully yet.. some pads take an age to bed in

Here is another problem.
I used the clio this week to get it sorted out and the 406 sat all week unused, got in today and the brakes were a wee bit stuck but freed up with a bit of a noise
But now driving the car i get a noise like the back brakes are warped but the disks and pads were changed in may and are not really worn out the front ones have had a bit of wobble but id be quite pissed off if my back disks have got warped

Can they get warped so early?

I tried fitting braided hoses on my coupé - an exercise in failure. They use banjo bolts, which when faced with callipers which are corroded around (not in) where the bolt goes in, tend to piss brake fluid everywhere If you're considering it, I'd check the condition of the flat surface around where the existing hose goes. If it's pitted, chipped or excessively corroded, don't buy braided.

Does that happen even when new copper washers are fitted. I have new callipers on the back of the car, the front ones seem in good nick.

The noise in the back brakes went away, my cousin blames it on me parking the car with the handbrake then not using it all week, coming back and the back brakes are locked up. The subaru is even worse its sat for about 2 months and i know the last time i went to drive it the back wheels were completely locked up i had to take the wheels off and get the rear drums off to free them and its also making a whine noise at the moment, sitting on the farm isn't doing it any favours.

The braided lines arrived today, they look like they are better condition than the ones currently on the car, two new copper washers come with them i assume to bolt onto the front callipers.

A qucik question about the 406s brake lines, are they steel or copper, i went round them all with copper grease as a bit of preventative maintenance after the clios brake lines rusted, but my cousin says they are copper on the 406

i don't think any car has copper brake pipes unless they have been changed at some point.

I very much doubt you will see any difference at all mate. They are designed for situations where there is prolonged hard use of the brakes like a track application. This causes the fluid to get very hot, which can cause standard rubber hoses to expand under braking and cause loss of braking effort. That sort of situation is unlikely in a road scenario.

Investigate better pads, personally I found EBC Greenstuff good in my 406, or Ferrodo DS2500 is as about as good as you'll get without going for full on motorsport stuff (they don't specify 406 fitment but a 306 GTI-6 pad should fit as far as I know).

Apec are s**t pads steer well clear.
I can personaly recomend pagid or E.B.C ultimax or green / yellow stuff all great pads but a bit pricey just depends on how your driving

They are definatly painted mild steel & rust like the clappers if not greesed , you will find queproll nickle or copper are replacements.

Braided lines make a big difference in pedal feel, I've had them on a car years ago, the brake pedal effort is translated straight to the caliper pistons rather than bulging-out the flexi hoses.
