Hello.

Can anyone please explain med how to lock my new lower ball joint, when I replace the old one? I am going to replace the old one in the weekend and Hayne's mention that I have to lock the new one. I picture would be great!

Kindly regards.

I think they're referring to the method where part of the rim of the ball joint, once screwed in all the way, is peened over into a slot on the hub, locking it into place.

+1 have a look at the old one and you should see it. You'll need a ball joint socket and a hefty breaker bar to get it off.

Here's a shiny new ball joint removal tool in case you haven't seen one.....

It fits over the ball joint once the nut is removed and then the nut is put back on to firmly hold the tool in place so that the four lugs stay engaged while you swear and wrestle with it. You have to 'un-peen' the old joint from the hub first though.

Thank you for your replies. I have the tool so it should be no big deal - I hope.
I will just apply tension to the new ball joint with 250 nm and then the locking will happen?

Yes. Get it screwed in and torqued, then hammer over an edge into the slot.
