Brake Pads Changed to Sell Car?

Post by Rolebama »

I suspected I had a problem with offside front brake, so I jacked it up, took the wheel off and found pads were rubbing on the disc. Initially, I suspected that the caliper had seized, but it all came apart quite easily, and the slides were still nice and free. It was when I came to remove the pads that I found the problem. I had to use a hammer and chisel to get them out. I can only assume they were replaced to sell the car as there was no grease of any kind, and the paint had not been removed from the ends of the backing plates making them a push fit, as opposed to having a bit of play. Anyway, a quick five minutes with a file, a spot of grease, and they are now fine. Had a quick look at the nearside, and decided that one can wait until Saturday.
