Snapped handbrake cable,bugger!

Post by grasmere59 »

Well it's my own fault,i renewed the rear discs, calipers, handbrake shoes, pads, and the main front to back cable a while back but i couldn't get the short O/S cable out of the backplate so left it and thought i'd "do it later",well it's snapped today! My drive is very steep so without a handbrake now it's let's say interesting trying to keep the car from rolling way,i suppose the moral of this story is don't put off tomorrow what you can do today as it can be a pain in the backside! :(

You are fortunate it wasn't the long one - that's a pig to change.

I've found the new cable in my box of spares that i should have fitted last time but it's too damn cold to crawling under the car today so it'll have to wait.

Have you managed to do this? My drive is flat and you are welcome to store your car anytime you wish. Drove past your place last week and saw it on the drive so I presume you've done it?
