Autoglass?
I keep hearing on the radio how fantastic autoglass is, and i have scratches on my windscreen, even if my windscreen has to be repalced has anyone had their windscreens changed, do you know if it will affect the function of the auto lights and wipers, and will i still have that blueish tint of my standard window , and what is the average price of a windscreen because their website is a complete maze to try and get a simple quote, is there other companies doing the same thing?

Re: Autoglass?
I got a stone chip in my windscreen. Autoglass filled it in with their special resin, but it is still every bit as visible due to the way the glass split. It is still strong enough to pass the MOT though.
If I get another chip I will get the screen replaced.
As it is, the auto wipers aren't the best - I would much prefer a 5-second intermittant wiper setting (AND A REAR WIPER).

Re: Autoglass?
i had a intermittent wiper in the clio and the sound of the relay clicking when it kicked in drove me mad, the click was louder than the radio, but my 406s auto wipers at the moment are working perfectly, they are good for when a lorry passes on the other side of the road and sprays the car, the wipers get this instantly

Re: Autoglass?
I had my screen replaced on my Executive and it was fine, the guy just removed the sensor and the new screen already had the sensor fixings bonded to it.
Make sure you tell them you have the UV reflective screen and they should provide the same thing.
One tiny gripe I had afterwards was I felt as though the new screen wasn't quite so tinted as the old one but I may have imagined that. I'm pretty sure the windscreen has to be slightly lighter than the side windows as standard.
I'd go for a new screen on the insurance if you can (for £50-60) you can't beat a new screen as it gets rid of all those tiny chips and scratches.
My wipers have scratched my screen so it might be receiving its very own custom-chip soon

Re: Autoglass?
Had a new screen fitted by autoglass due to stone chips, only paid the excess through my insurance which was £60. In my case the auto wipers worked better afterwards, but I'd imagine it depends on the care taken by the fitter. Probably a good idea to stand and watch as they'll probably take a bit more time over the job if you're stood next to the car.

Re: Autoglass?
I had Autoglass do the screen on my saloon as it was that chipped the first time I drove it into the sun I found I had to drop the window and lean out to see where I was going
£400 and they did a decent job. No probs with the auto wipers
