thinking about getting heated front seats 406 D9

Post by OutFishing »

Hello Gentlefolk of 406 OC,

Whilst moving bits about on my 406 Estate HDi 90 at the weekend to fit an alarm, i found that under the coin holder between the seats, I have 2 other plugs that were blanked off by the coin holder, checking on both doc backup and sedre they are the switches for front heated seats!

Apart from trying to get the 2 heated seat switches and either 2 heating elements or 2 other grey fabric front seats, what other bits are requires to make the heated seats function?

Thank you in advance

I think the problem is you can't fit the heater elements under a cover that's not designed to have them. Saying that there's always the possibility you can modify the cover so it doesn't interfere with the element.

The elements themselves don't come cheap, it would be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand complete leather interior and remove the elements from the seats to get them. It would of course then make more sense to stick your cloth seats in the bin, fit the leather interior and have done

I did manage to fit after-market heaters to the cloth seats in my D8, which you might want to read: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7675

Seems like they stopped selling the heated pads I used, these look similar but I'd check there are separate pads for back and bum 'cos the 406 seats aren't the sort they can just use one.

Hmm, a set of leather seats is looking like a better deal at those prices, and then there's customs...

Heated seats are a piss ball

Use this kit - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0193078030

Very good quality, easy to install, works on any, and easy to wire in

When you remove the cloth/material on the seats and you take off the brass rings, you can use cable ties to fasten them back on. That is the official Peugeot way

Hello to you all and thank you for you help,

Just for clarity, would the leather seats out of a D8 fit into a D9 without any hassle or do they require "adjustment"?

would the D8 leather seats have side airbags that would just plug and play into a D9?

I am struggling to find many D9's near to me for an estate that have leather seats!

Thank you in advance

No. But if you're feeling brave you could always strip the leather seats down & put the cushions & covers on your seats. I have the same problem with my car. Plenty of old leather about, but not so many post 2000 with the seat airbags.

Why can't you fit heater pads to cloth seats? Admittedly not having seen them removed I don't really know what's going on, but looking at Ger's heated seats topic over on the Coupé Club (http://www.peugeot406coupe.com/phpBB3/v ... lit=heater) the covers would need a lot less modifying than fitting after marked jobbies did.

Look at this pic:

Admittedly this is on a coupé but those ribs look like the ones on my D8's seat coverss I had to cut off, leaving the cover quite loose :?

Or is the problem burning holes in your bum?

You can fit heaters to cloth seats.

It's actually worse fitting them to leather as the heaters dry all the moisture in the leather and cause them to prematurely crack. That's why you must moisturise and hydrate your leather!

I have cloth electrc seats and I have a plethora of connetors underneath my seat - between those there is the brown one - and all of them are connected. I guess I already have the heating pads?

They're not necessarily connected to anything...
