I know im definatly decided and settled that my estate is THE one im going to keep for a long while ive started to put some serious wedge into it to improve it and make it look as stunning as it drives, i will probably get mixed reactions on this one but i bought a walnut trim kit for it the week before last and i finally fitted it this weekend i think its great for the price and very forgiving to fit even a butter fingered, heavy handed simpleton like me managed to fit it in under half an hour with absolutly no swear words emitted at all (and believe me thats quite and achievement for me ) ive put some pictures up below i think it sets off the dash and the black on black looks very bland hence when driving the rapier saloon which has black dash, glovebox, seats, and door pads and dark wood trims i get SO bored lol it looks light in the photos but its a perfect match for the walnut trim on the glovebox im just on the look out for a set of GLX or GTX door cards with the walnut capping and grey cloth on them just to finish it off
thanks for all your comments, yes it is one of the kits off ebay ive wanted this kit since i got my first 406 but they were SO expensive, i got it for 29.99 with about £8 postage so it came in just under 40 quid and it has all the dash surrounds the airvent surround, electric window switch surrounds and rear electric window switch surrounds but as ive got manual rear windows ive just kept them in my old ice cream tub full of 406 odds and sods its very thin but all the corners and holes for buttoms are all rounded off smooth it looks much better in real life its very nice to touch and it sits pretty much flush with the buttoms on the climate control but definatly follow thier advice and buy some surgical spirit to wipe the dash down beforehand, i used white spirt on the passengers air vent and it turned it white and stunk the car out so id stick to the instructions. i would definatly recommend it to anyone! haha! believe me im thinking about getting the leather seats but now ive had quite a nice pay rise at work and ive moved to a place with cheaper rent im thinking of getting a coupe SE V6 as a weekend toy so thatll have all the leather id need but it depends of what i see, ive had 406's littering the streets around here since xmas and now im down to 2 i might see when i can sell my Saloon for and get an early coupe thats needs a little work to keep me busy and it can be all finished and ready for the summer. i bought a full leather interior for my Rapier but i got so damn frustrated with the front seats i took the whole lot out again and sold it to a friend of a friend who has an exec with black leather but he fancied a change to cream leather, i think for the time being id just like to get the door pads with the wood trim on them, but funnily enough it doesnt feel OTT when youre in the car it certainly lifts the drab standard dash, some companies want £££££ for these kits i wanted to get one done in like a black wood to match the trim in the Rapier but they wanted £300+ because it was a special order, but this is definatly a cheap and quick way to make the interior stand out a bit, i believe the same company does a kit for the D8 dashbaord aswell for the same price, now im on the lookout for a non-multiplexed stalk assembly with the front foglamp switch on...
thats the one i got and you choose if you want an automatic or manual transmission surround or single shot CD or cassette player surround but they dont do a non-climate control kit...well they do but these ones are what you see is what you get, these kits can cost over £100 so i dont know if these are just old stock lying about but they definatly aint factory seconds
its a good quality kit but the drivers side window switch surround is only available with the 4 switches for all 4 leccy windows and the big rectangle button to diable the rear electric windows so i didnt fit it to mine as mines only got 2 switches on the drivers door
