I was wondering if anyone knows how i fit the rear headrests in my car.
to explain i have a 1996 406 saloon which didnot have any headrests fitted.a friend of mine has given me a set of three but i dont understand how they go in. the seats have grey plastic plugs in them but there are no holes to slide the rests into. i have tried to pull the plugs out but they are stuck fast and i dont doubt that i will snap them if i pull anymore.
You'll have to ask your mate if he has the sleeves for the headrests to slot into, failing that breakers.
If you pull the fabric back around the blanking plugs you'll be able to see a lug that you push in with a screwdriver & they just pull out.

thankyou very much for your reply. have swapped my blanking plugs for his adjusters. what a nasty little job that was. well if i am honest i have only done one. the other will have to wait as the kids around here dont need to learn anymore swearwords just yet. once again thanks for the advice.dave

Is it just me but in my 90 HDi estate I find the centre rear headrest a real problem for obscuring the rear view, if Im going anywhere where I want to see whats behind me then i take the bugger out and leave it in the boot
(and driving a 90 things behind dont seem to stay behind for long, they're always bloody overtaking me!!)

I never found that. The middle headrest is much smaller than the other two. I always thought they would have tested the headrest in the design phase to see if was obstructing the view

I have a long body and short legs for a bloke of 6'2 i have the shortest legs Ive ever seen, hence the position of the mirror is probably not one they thought would be used much
sorry for hijacking the thread just wanted to know if anybody else found it bloody annoying.

Good job getting that done mate. I remember breaking the lug in my dads D8 a long time ago trying to see if they were interchangeable.
like i do the middle one just sits in and isnt held in , never falls out tho , i could have welded 2 small metal tubes in to secure it but isnt worth the hastle just for a middle headrest,

D8's only have two in the rear.
