Parcel Shelf Storage Box Light

On the executive models there is a box in the rear parcel shelf which has always held the first aid kit in my car but is generally not used much in the car, so I decided to add a courtesy light for it, it is a very easy thing to do and doesn't as I had thought require taking out the rear parcel shelf. I just had to thread the wire through a hole in the bottom of the box, to the wires for the boot light and I drilled a hole for the push to break switch and wired it all together an important thing to note is that for this light it needs to be earthed to the cars body to get a constant 12v from the boot light even when its off. Below shows the light:

The light itself has a switch on the side of it, which allows it to be turned off, or operate only when the lid is open, or stay on all the time like the ceiling lights in cars.

Overall its a quick and cheap way to get another light into the executive which only has about 10 lights throughout the interior, I intend to get some beige paint for the push to break switch to camouflage it in better in with the surroundings, and the quality of the light itself is a bit disappointing its cheap looking plastic and a bit thicker than what i had hoped but there is a good strong light from it. Overall its another courtesy light for a car which doesn't need any more.

Whilst I like the principle of your mod, that light is way to big IMO and reduces the capacity of the storage box too much.
I'd be trying to find something a little smaller, but all the same, well done for the idea

How about more of those anal beads, round the sides and front?

I agree about the light being too big, the quality of the lights plastic isn't very good the plastic its made of feels cheap and tacky, but the wires are there behind the light, and getting it wired up to that stage is the hard part, I can change the light if anything better comes along, which would just be a case of changing the wires. Even so I can still get my first aid kit into the box and that is all I use the box for, it looks good at night with the light shining round the first aid kit.
Here is a picture with the first aid kit in place, there is still plenty of space in the box for whatever else goes in there:

ripped out the old light, the cheap crap plastics seemed to crack in the heat and it was causing a bad rattle, so i took it out all evidence of it being there is gone, so i replaced it with a peugeot coutresy light from a 405, and only had to use a stanley knife to cut the hole, i also disconnected the push button because i didnt need it heres the new light, it doesnt take up any space no more and looks like a peugeot standard feature:

The lid is a bit dirty looking needs a good clean, but the storage box is improved.

indeed the last thing was terrible, typical ebay rubbish from the far end of the earth, it was cheap but the postage was double and it took ages to come and it didnt really match the pictures, the quality of the plastic was terrible, from the start it was scratched, even the wires of the old light were comically thin. This new light is very easy to install, i just cut the hole with a stanley knife, after leveling all with a ruler and marking it out, and the parcel shelf is made of thin enough stuff to allow this, although i did take the parcel shelf out this time to resolder all the wires in the back, because with this and the led boot lights i dont want any electrical problems in the back.
