Seat Wiring

Does anybody have enough experience of multiplex & pre multiplex D9s to be able to tell me if the seats from a 2002 multiplexed 406 would plug into the connectors on a 2000 pre-multiplex car?

It is, but I already know that there will be rewiring involved for that.

What I am specifically referring to is the airbag connections which would be on any set of seats from a multiplexed car. The seller states that the wiring for the seats was unplugged at the multiplug (singular) under the seats, but I would expect there to be at least 3 or 4 plugs & don't want to end up buying them, getting them couriered only to find that the airbag wiring is totally different.

Fit the pre tensioners from your existing car and then you know the connections won't be a problem, but more importantly there won't be a fault with them.

When I fitted leather seats to mine, the connections were different, so took the wiring from the connection at the base of the seat around to the pre tensioner, but ended up with airbag light on. Tried a few times to clean the connections and trying to get the light to go out, but it's not a five min job is it, because you need to leave the system for a while after disconnecting the battery to dissipate any energy ( or whatever it does ) from the system.
The pre tensioner is secured by one 17mm bolt, and the wiring is clipped in with 5 or 6 clips which are easy enough to get out and put back in.

After fitting my own pre tensioners the airbag light went out as it should. Turns out the airbags hadn't fired correctly as must of come out of a crashed car and not gone off correctly.

Will save you headache in the long run
Forgot, the cover on the side that goes over the pre tensioner is held in place by a torx at the rear.

**EDIT**

Sorry, there are more airbags on later cars - the above info was for cars with just the pre tensioners on the seats and not others and realised after typing :cheesy:

I've been offered a very nice set of seats from a breaker, but they are currently unsure as to the exact year of the vehicle (estimates 2000-2002) as the plates aren't on it, but it has the airbags in the seats.

Before I end up a couple of hundred out of pocket, can somebody please confirm whether the plugs under the seats (disregarding whether the seats are electrically adjustable or not) would be the same on a 2002- (multiplex) model as they would be on my 2000/X pre-multiplex D9?

Failing that, has anybody got any pictures of the plugs from under a multiplex model so that I can compare to mine myself?

Sent the breaker a pic of the multiplex stalks & of my stalks - he says the car IS a multiplex.

Can anybody confirm the if the airbag connections are the same?

I ended up asking a man who has seen hundreds of 406 seats of different ages & specs - Coupe Ade. He informed me that D9 seats will be compatible with any D9.
