Speedo surround did its shape change

I am watching an item on ebay for a grey effect speedo surround from a 1999 coupe would this fit into my 2002 d9 saloon, because by looking at the pictures i can barely tell any difference

D8, (early) modes have circular dials with a flat bit at the bottom, D9, (later) ones are completely round.

Unfortunatley the model change was in 1999, so you'll have to go by the shape.

no i dont mean that part, i mean the surround of the speedo cluster, the piece of plastic that also holds the middle and drivers air vents, it doesnt look like its changed over the years

There are 3 different part no.s for RHD cars, (at least):

The first two are for my car, the 3rd is for a D8 1.9TD. The same drawing no, is used for both.

Not 100% but I wouldn't have thought the surround itself has changed.

them prices are beyond a bit deer they are madly expensive, its no wonder the tea the dealers serves is so good

Can you post a picture of exactly what you are looking for?
I can see if I can get one from the scrap yard for you in good shape (they generaly are pretty mint condition as they're inside the car.)

dont worry got all the silver bits off ebay for £120 thats for 4 chrome door handles, white speedo, silver surrounds, then the radio, climate control and mfd with the same colour, just waiting for it all to arrive.

The surround is the same size and fitment, D8/D8.5/D9 though Coupe/Saloon/Estate, makes it easier when you're not too handy with a spray can and go back to the scrappy a few times!

yip if i started spraying it would probably end up as some form of mess and not a properly painted part, im waiting for the post to delever the silver parts, and finally solved the issue of using the silver cover over a standard mfd display

I actually prefer my black surrounds as the first time I got into a car with the silver I didn't like the rough texture of it as opposed to the smooth finish on the black ones.
