hi all,
having de-badged the front grille and removed badges from the rear bumper, just wandered if it was possible to de-badge the boot.
i know i can weld a plate in the hole a skim of filler and a respray. what would i be able to use to open the boot??
is there an electric button kit avaliable??.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Re: de-badge saloon boot
yip there should be plenty of options, there are central locking systems that have solenoids that are wirelessy activated, and you could mount the solenoid to move the lever that releases the boot mechanism things like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 6639wt_911
if that item doesnt suit that company does make a number of other things that release the boot, its worth asking the seller, they do them things that also pop the boot up for you,
by the way have you still got the old boot badge is it in good condition

Re: de-badge saloon boot
i havent actually removed it yet, will be soon though, next couple of weeks,
i will let you know when i remove it and you can have it for free because if you dont want it ill probably throw it away or lost in the black hole, aka "the garage"
we can sort out postage or collection once ive purchased the boot release (buying this week)
its not bad condition, at a close up you can see it does look abit weathered, the chrome bits are still chrome and the badge looks in good nick considering its on a 12year old car
i will sort out a pic for you tomorrow (close up) so you can have a goosey.
thanks for the info

Re: de-badge saloon boot
Make lots of pics in the process! I was in that too a couple of years back but never really had the time to do it. There is no need of a remote release mechanism (my oppenieon ) A push button on the middle console is fine enough. Just need any scrapped boot (even door) central locking motor and a free weekend.
Re: de-badge saloon boot
i am going to use the solonoid for the central locking in the boot. ill take some pics along the way as a how to thing if needed
ill let you know how i get on.
thankyou
